More Info

This saree is ambara charaka handspun & handwoven in North Karnataka. Upon arrival in Bengaluru, the textile is washed to remove starch & other impurities. The hand block printer in Bengaluru mixes Azo-free reactive dye powder with edible gum to create a paste. This mixture is used to print the fabric by hand. Once printed & dried, the saree is rolled in waste newspaper & forty such sarees are steamed together in a boiler for about four hours. This steaming process removes the gum & fixes the dye. After cooling, the saree is thoroughly washed & steam-pressed.
